It is so easy to get caught up in the storm that is infertility. All of a sudden, that becomes your entire life. It's what you talk about, it's what you think about, and it's definitely where you spend a lot of your time and money. Especially, when you have implantation failures (the embryo not sticking or a miscarriage) it's easy to become consumed by it and just go from one attempt to the next. You feel your biological clock ticking and so you're racing through the process.
It's important to remember that there's more to life than infertility. It's important to give your body and your marriage / partnership time to recover between attempts. Your hormones need to recover, your body as a whole needs to recover, and your marriage needs to recover.
So, spend time doing other things that you and your partner enjoy. It might be reconnecting through a date night. Or, maybe going on a weekend getaway or a long trip somewhere you have always wanted to go. It might be as simple as sleeping in on a Saturday morning and having breakfast in bed rather than racing to the infertility clinic for bloodwork and an ultrasound.
Whatever you do, focus on doing things to nurture your body, to nurture your marriage, and to nurture yourself. It is vital for your wellbeing to live this type of balanced life and to increasing your chances of your fertility treatments possibly working the next time.
